The spirit of camaraderie swept across Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) as it officially opened Intramurals ‘26-’27, bringing together student-athletes and representatives from different colleges to celebrate sportsmanship and athletic excellence at the Rajah Sulayman Gymnasium, Oct 9.

The event kicked off with a parade of student-athletes alongside their respective college muses, radiating excitement and enthusiasm as they marched around the campus, proudly welcoming the start of this year’s Intramurals.

University President Atty. Domingo “Sonny” Y. Reyes delivered the welcoming address, formally opening the festivities and setting the tone for this year’s Intramurals.

The ceremony continued with the opening remarks delivered by the Sports Director of the Office of Student Development and Services (OSDS), Glenmarc F. Antonio, who emphasized the importance of Intramurals in highlighting the athletic abilities and overall development of the students.

“We have to showcase your athletic abilities. We have to express your athletic prowess for the holistic development of students, not just for academics,” Antonio said.

Adding significance to the celebration, the program included a recognition segment honoring former PLM varsity players and acknowledging their contributions to the university's sporting legacy.

The Ms. Intramurals 2026 competition highlighted each college muse's confidence and eloquence, drawing loud cheers as the candidates took the stage and showcased their wit during the question-and-answer portion.

The spotlight turned to Liliana Chinel Miranda from the College of Nursing (CN) as she was crowned Ms. Intramurals 2026, captivating the crowd with her poise and grace throughout the competition, while Geleen De Vera from the College of Accountancy (CA) and Stephanie Lei Lakindanum from the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM) were named first runner-up and second runner-up, respectively.

The ceremony also featured performances from student organizations, Magwayen Creative Scholars' Guild (MCSG) and PsychGroove of the PLM Psychological Society, who charmed the stage to further enrich the opening ceremony and energize the crowd.

The opening ceremony of Intramurals ‘26-27 marks the second consecutive year of holding the sporting activity during the active academic year.
