The College of Education (CED) Titans and College of Information Systems and Technology Management (CISTM) Pythons advanced to the grand finals, while the College of Business Administration (CBA) Jaguars claimed bronze in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) tournament after eruptive semifinals playoffs at the GEE AVR, March 7.
In the opener, the undefeated CED Titans clashed with the College of Science (CS) Sharks in a best-of-one, where the Sharks’ fighter-heavy lineup gave them an initial edge, but the Titans flipped the tempo when they seized the first Lord, establishing dominance for the rest of the match.
With the Sharks’ midlane cracked open, they were forced into a defensive posture and struggled to maintain lane equilibrium against the Titans’ relentless siege, sealing the victory and crowning Stephen Fritz “Kanzaki” Saludo as the undisputed MVP of the game.
In the second semifinal, the also-undefeated CISTM Pythons faced the College of Business Administration (CBA) Jaguars, who advanced to the semifinals following the disqualification of the College of Engineering Knights due to noncompliance, as announced by PLM Haribon Athletics.
The intensity of the game sparked when the first turtle spawned top side, and while the Jaguars initially secured it, the Pythons answered with a flawless team fight capped by a triple kill to snatch the objective.
From there, the Pythons slithered through the Jaguars’ defenses, suffocating their map control and denying any comeback potential. CISTM sealed the sweep with a commanding 17–1 kill score, eight destroyed towers, Jerich “Spo Nge Bob” De Venecia as the MVP, and advanced as a team with no losses into the grand finals.
In the battle for the third match, the CBA Jaguars clashed with the CS Sharks in a best-of-three series, where the Jaguars took immediate control and scaled, led by the MVPs Pierre Clebron “Francis” Torres in the first game and Nash “Xypher” Javier in the second, not letting the Sharks get in their way.
Game one ended swiftly in 12 minutes as the Jaguars surged to an eight-kill lead, displaying disciplined rotations and ramping up their damage per second consistently, while the second game stretched past 23 minutes in a tense back-and-forth, with the Sharks holding on defensively while the Jaguars unleashed relentless aggression.
Despite the Sharks’ resilience of keeping up with the lead, the Jaguars slowly made their way close to their base, choking out map vision and shrinking the Sharks’ territory, and sealed the 2–0 sweep—proving themselves worthy of their second chance and claiming the bronze medal.
The highly anticipated grand finals between the undefeated CED Titans and CISTM Pythons will take place after the university’s midterm week, setting the stage for an epic clash between the two undefeated teams.
