As part of the week-long celebration of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila’s (PLM) 60th Foundation Anniversary, a wreath-laying ceremony was held in commemoration of both the university’s founding day and the birth anniversary of the country’s national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, June 19.

The morning program commenced with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, followed by the ceremonial wreath-laying at the Dr. Jose Rizal Monument and the monument of former President Diosdado Macapagal, who signed the university’s establishment into law.

PLM President Atty. Domingo Reyes Jr. led the ceremony, accompanied by the PLM Board of Regents Dr. Neri S. Pescadera and Dr. Joseph Berlin P. Juanzon, Manila City Mayor Dr. Maria Sheilah “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan, and Vice Mayor John Marvin “Yul Servo” Nieto, alongside key administrative officials.

Members of the PLM faculty, staff, and students also gathered in honor of the institution’s six decades of public service and legacy in higher education.

Mayor Honey Lacuna expressed deep pride in PLM’s contributions to society, highlighting its consistent track record in producing top-performing graduates.

The University President likewise extended his gratitude for the City Government of Manila’s continued support, recalling a meaningful first encounter with the mayor that strengthened mutual respect and autonomy in the university’s academic affairs.

Reyes stated.

A plaque of appreciation was presented to both the mayor and the vice mayor in recognition of their support for the university.

The event concluded with photo opportunities among PLM administrators, professors, faculty members, and staff, followed by the singing of Awit ng Maynila and the PLM Hymn.

The fourth day of the 60th Founding Anniversary festivities continued with the semifinal and final matches of the volleyball games at the Raja Sulayman Gymnasium.

The celebration began on Monday, June 15, and concluded on Friday, June 20.
