“I believe that success is not about the materialistic things. It’s about in your heart. It’s about the kindness. It’s about how you help other people. I believe that if I’m able and I have the opportunity to help other people, I believe I’m a successful person.”

Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila’s (PLM) pride, Juvyel Anne Saluta’s definition of success in the question and answer portion might have been a foreshadowing of her eventual triumph as she has been crowned Miss Elite 2024 in Red Sea, Egypt, Sept. 14.

Saluta received almost perfect scores in the swimsuit competition, the long gown portion where she flaunted a red and gold butterfly-inspired dress, as well as the national costume, recognizing the beauty of indigenous tribes in the country.

Aside from winning the crown, the 20-year-old beauty queen and 3rd-year Tourism Management student, was also awarded Best Smile and made history as the first Filipina to win in the international pageant.

“I love to smile because I believe that it doesn’t just help me. It also helps the people around me,” Saluta said in her introduction video.

The PLMayer represented Manila City and was crowned Hiyas ng Pilipinas 2023, which opened doors for her to compete in Miss Elite.

Miss Elite, founded in 2021, is an international beauty pageant that seeks outstanding women to celebrate their beauty. Each representative brings their own nation’s identity with distinctive culture, tradition, and beauty as a world platform.
