Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) took part in the official launch of the Manila Academic–Public Library Educational Consortium, a city initiative led by Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso to strengthen Manila’s learning network, Nov. 20.
The signing ceremony also sealed the Manila City Library’s collaboration with Universidad de Manila (UDM), Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST), and the Schools Division Office-Manila to expand literacy efforts, as per the Manila Public Information Office.
According to the PLM official Facebook page, the Consortium intends to bridge academic and public learning spaces through shared and coordinated library services, providing students, faculty, researchers, and community learners with wider access to books, journals, digital media, and other educational tools.
The Consortium’s objectives highlight library functions such as cataloguing, collection development, and citywide literacy initiatives. Moreover, the plan calls for the establishment of a shared online catalogue and an integrated library system linking all member institutions, supported by professional training programs for library staff.
Ratified during the event, the Consortium Agreement and By-Laws enable the immediate implementation of these strategic goals.
