In the lead-up to the 2025 National Elections, the PLM Supreme Student Council (SSC) has checked on the political participation of the students through the launch of Pulso ng Pamantasan, a senatorial and partylist survey, which was conducted from April 23 to May 5.
The initiative gathered a total of 1,787 responses—a modest turn-out compared to PLM’s overall student population of 11,000, equalling to around 16% of its total.
Former Senator Bam Aquino (KNP) topped the senatorial poll with an overwhelming 95.5% of the total votes (1,706 votes). He was followed by former Senator Kiko Pangilinan (LP) with 94.4% (1,687 votes) and Luke Espiritu (PLM) with 85.1% (1,521 votes).
Other leading candidates include:
Heidi Mendoza (IND) with 83.0% (1,484 votes)
Danilo Ramos (MKBYN) with 66.9% (1,196 votes)
Leody De Guzman (PLM) with 65.9% (1,178 votes)
Arlene Brosas (MKBYN) with 63.5% (1,135 votes)
Ronnel Arambulo (MKBYN) with 60.2% (1,075 votes)
Teddy Casiño (MKBYN) with 59.6% (1,065 votes)
Sonny Matula (WPP) with 47.2% (844 votes)
France Castro (MKBYN) with 46.2% (826 votes)
Liza Maza (MKBYN) with 37.7% (673 votes)
For the partylist race, AKBAYAN Partylist emerged as the top choice among PLM students taking 52.5% (939 votes) of the poll followed by KABATAAN with 20.1% (360 votes), ML with 7.1% (127 votes), and GABRIELA with 5.9% (106 votes). Other partylists compiled garnered a total of 14.4% (255 votes)
The SSC, during the conduct of the survey, comments that the figure remains “significantly below the full strength” of the PLM student body. The survey was originally set to end on April 30 but was extended for five more days due to its low response count.
With just a few days remaining before the May 12 elections, the PLM SSC is calling on all PLM students and citizens to take part in the 2025 Elections.
