Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso personally handed over a ₱62.5 million check to Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila President Domingo “Sonny” Reyes Jr. as part of the city government subsidy for the first quarter of 2026 on Apr. 10. The financial assistance aims to support the university’s operations and ensure the continued quality and affordable education for students in Manila. According to Domagoso’s official Facebook post, the subsidy is intended to strengthen educational services and address the needs of the academic sector. Domagoso further emphasized that the local government remains committed to prioritizing education, ensuring stakeholders that support for institutions like PLM will continue. This refers to the subsidy that Mayor Isko pledged during his visit to the university last Jan. 23, where he handed two checks totalling ₱117.5 million. He mentioned during his meeting with the Board of Regents that these subsidies aim to address the funding lapses faced by the university.
