PLM College of Science (CS) - Psychology Department recently conducted their second annual pinning and candle lighting ceremony for the class of 2025 with nearly 300 fourth year students at the Palacio De Maynila, Jan. 27.
With the theme “The Great Becoming: Striding Towards a Transformative Pursuit of Service”, the ceremony served as a commemoration of the students journey throughout their stay in the university and preparation for their internship. They were also joined by their parents in this year’s pinning.
College Dean Dr. Aileen I. Atienza began the event with her opening message, expressing her pride and hopes for the future of the students and reminding them of the responsibilities that come with being a professional.
“As you go forth, serve others. Remember to always uphold the highest standard of professionalism, empathy, and kindness. Strive for excellence in all that you do and never forget the values that have guided you…” she said.
PLM President Atty. Domingo Reyes, Jr., who was not able to attend the event personally due to prior commitments, delivered a heartfelt congratulations and appreciation through a video greeting.
“With this pinning ceremony, may you be reminded of the hard work and education that you bore throughout your academic journey in the past four years of your stay in PLM,” Pres. Reyes stated.
Additionally, board topnotcher Mr. Anfernee Karl R. Cuenca and the multi-credentialed Dr. Mary Easter Claire S. Perez-Torres, both fruits of the department, served as the ceremony’s inspirational and keynote speakers respectively, with both highlighting the significance of psychologists in the society while encouraging the students to follow their dream path.
The event concluded with the oath-taking and candlelight ceremony led by Alexa Daireen Meneses, Vice President for Internal Affairs, and Francesca Bringas, Vice President for External Affairs of the PLM Psychological Society and a closing remarks delivered by Prof. Francis Jeremy Castillo, Department of Psychology Chairperson.
“Isang chapter na lang. In which, why are we saying this? Ano yung isang chapter na lang? Internship na lang po bago graduation. Remember, the road ahead may not always be easy. As Mr. Cuenca said– ang sagot sa pagod ay pahinga at hindi pagsuko,” Prof. Castillo stated.
