Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) paid a posthumous tribute to Arthur Jude Marasigan Mendoza, Magna Cum Laude, during the recently concluded 57th Commencement Exercises at the SMX Convention, Oct. 30.
During the ceremony, Mendoza was remembered as a son and sibling who lit up his home and made his family proud each time, despite the difficulties in life.
“You were an advocate; a voice for others as you stood with the poor—jeepney drivers and fisherfolk [and] joined causes for a matter… Your unbreakable spirit, pure heart and kind nature are forever etched in our hearts. Congratulations. We are proud, yet we could not celebrate as we would be happier if you were still with us. With or without this award, your family loves you so much,” the College of Education said in dedication to his memory.
His elder sister, Mary Ann Bea Mendoza, went on stage to receive his diploma on his behalf.
Mendoza took up Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Social Studies at the university before passing away on Aug. 22, 2025. He was 22 years old.
