Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) officially concluded its 57th Commencement Exercises on Oct. 30, marking the final day of the university’s three-day graduation rites held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

In its final session, a total of 1,140 graduates received their diplomas, composed of 88 from the College of Accountancy, 579 from the College of Education, 439 from the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, and 34 from the College of Public Administration.

During the opening remarks, guest commencement speaker Mr. Raul C. Pagdanganan, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cardinal Santos Medical Center, commended the perseverance and eagerness that the graduating students embodied to combat the unprecedented challenges during their stay in the Pamantasan.

“You completed your course of study during a global pandemic and its aftermath, which tested not only your academic abilities but also your spirit, your adaptability, and your faith,” he said, emphasizing that serving the nation is now their responsibility as scholars of the Filipino people.

“Earning a degree from your institution is both a personal achievement and a social responsibility, because your education was made possible by the collective investment of the Filipino people. Kayo ay mga iskolar ng bayan." Pagdanganan added.

Before formally ending the ceremony, Mark Joniel Bitagan, a Magna Cum Laude from the College of Accountancy, represented the graduates and shared his journey and outlook. In his speech, he highlighted that the corrupt use of knowledge destroys the nation.

“Hindi kakulangan sa talino ang sumisira sa ating bansa, kung hindi talino na ginagamit sa pandaraya, pagnanakaw, at pagtapak sa kapwa,” he said.

The ceremony ended with the Pledge of Loyalty led by Mr. Vincent Prado, Vice President of PLM Alumni Association Inc., followed by the exit of the University Officials, and the singing of the PLM Hymn.
