PLM commences annual VAWC campaign

In accordance with Proclamation 1172 s. 2006, the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) held its campaign to end Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) on Nov. 28 until Dec. 12.
With the VAWC Banner hanging at the PLM facade and lobby, the kick-off activity led by Prof. April Bonoan at the Tanghalang Bayan, saw performances from various student organizations.
Throughout the campaign, various seminars and check-ups will be conducted over the course of 14 days for the student and faculty populace about health awareness, Commission on Higher Education guidelines, and the VAWC law.
On Dec. 6, “Magtanong kay Attorney” will be held at Justo Alberto Auditorium in the morning to be followed by “Her Story: a Day Forward” in the afternoon. Thereafter, another seminar will be conducted on Dec. 7, “Empowering Women’s Health: a Guide to Sexual Wellness and Pelvic Floor Therapy”, while a final seminar that focuses on how to handle sexual harassment will be held on Dec. 12.
“This will provide an opportunity for the participants to increase awareness and accuracy in recognizing sexual harassment and educate them on the organization‘s process for handling complaints for them to be protected, understand the law and exercise their right”, College of Education (CED) Dean Dr. Jimmy Romero said during the opening ceremony.
“Harana para kay Juan” will also be conducted at the Tanghalang Bayan and led by the College of Music and the Admissions Office on Dec. 4, Dr. Romero added.
The School of Social Work and the School of Government then led the Orange Exhibit during the opening day at the Gusaling Emilio Aguinaldo lobby and PLM facade.
