PLM COMELEC requires full party-lists slate for SSC Elections

The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila Student Commission on Elections (PLM COMELEC) has released new guidelines on Saturday, Feb. 7 requiring accredited political party-lists to submit a full slate of candidates for the Supreme Student Council (SSC) prior to the filing of Certificate of Candidacy.

According to Resolution No. 02-2026 issued on Jan. 28, party-lists must fill candidates for all SSC executive positions as a condition for election participation. They are also required to formally comply with accreditation rules and appoint a qualified university adviser.

Party-lists that fail to meet these requirements within the prescribed period risk the nullification of their accreditation and will not be allowed to participate in the upcoming elections.

The resolution further clarifies rules for independent candidates, who must remain unaffiliated with any political parties from the filing of their candidacy until the end of their term if elected.

The resolution further states that any SSC or College Student Council (CSC) vacancies due to failed election shall be handled solely by PLM COMELEC, in coordination with the Office of Student Development and Services (OSDS) and Office of the Vice President for Research, Academic and Extension Service (OVPRAES), disallowing appointments made by colleges-based bodies.
