Lakas ng Pamantasan, buhay na buhay!

Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS) representatives were crowned as the first Binibini at Ginoong Pamantasan 2024 at the Justo Albert Auditorium, June 20.

With a score of 91.58%, Jar-el Beatrice Garcia won as the Binibining Pamantasan, while July Andrei Alfonso, with a score of 89.25%, was crowned as the Ginoong Pamantasan, both representing CHASS.

In her winning answer, Binibining Pamantasan Jar-el Beatrice Garcia was asked about her stance on mandatory ROTC.

“My stand on the mandatory ROTC is that I am completely against it. Why? Because I believe that we should give or we should consider first the welfare of our students. We have to consider that not everyone is capable of going through the ROTC method. Although it might be effective for some, [but] we must put into consideration na hindi para po sa lahat ang ROTC. As a premier people’s university, that is something that we should uphold the most. Dapat ang mga tao, dapat ang constituents natin ang ating pina-priority,” she responded.

On the other hand, Ginoong Pamantasan July Andrei Alfonso was asked how he would promote a safe space at the university once crowned.

“I believe that being Mr. Pamantasan is not just inside the school but can also a reflect outside of the school. Once I win Mr. Pamantasan, I know that I will be able to uphold a safety environment to everyone by being an example to them. By showing them that Pamantasan is really a premier school, na lahat tayo rito, lahat ng pinag-aaralan natin ay talagang magagamit natin even outside the school. Since alam naman natin na yung mga pumipila para sa PLM at maraming tumitingala para sa Pamantasan and I will make sure that every core value that we have is mapapakita natin yan sa mga estudyante natin dito sa Pamantasan,” he stated.

Binibini runners-up were Altheyya Nicole Lopez from the College of Business Administration (CBA) coming in first with a score of 85.98%, while College of Public Administration (CPA) Salvie Delfin Mazo achieved a score of 82.05%, placing in second.
