The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences Student Council (CHASS-SC) recorded its first resignation for Academic Year 2026–2027 after elected Public Relations Officer (PRO) Uriel Arzadon officially resigned from their post, according to a resolution released by the council on July 22.
According to the CHASS-SC Resolution No. 1 Series of 2026, Arzadon cited “misaligned beliefs with the demands of the council, unforeseen family circumstances, and prioritizing academic commitments” as reasons for the resignation, which was filed to the College Dean on July 14.
The resolution also stated that the CHASS-SC supported the resignation, stating Arzadon's “lack of commitment” to the responsibilities of the office. The council added that it was inconsistent with their mission, vision, and principles, which consequently “compromised” the effective performance of the PRO’s duties.
The resignation was accepted by the College Dean on July 18, clearing Arzadon of all obligations and opening a vacancy within the council. As per Section 2 of the resolution, the council shall appoint a qualified candidate for the position of PRO.
Meanwhile, the publication has sought comment from Arzadon regarding their resignation. No response had been received as of this writing.
Arzadon was officially proclaimed last June 1, alongside officers from other college councils, following the conclusion of the local elections.
This marks the first resignation within the CHASS-SC and across all student councils for the newly opened academic year.
