Mayor Moreno lays vision for Iskolars at PLM’s “Kumustahan with Yorme”

Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso laid out his vision for Iskolars ng Bayan during the "Kumustahan with Yorme" at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila’s University Activity Center (UAC), August 19.

His arrival was welcomed by University President Atty. Domingo "Sonny" Y. Reyes Jr., select members of the Board of Regents, administrative staff, and students.

In his welcoming remarks, Mayor Moreno delivered a heartfelt message as he acknowledged some of the issues felt by the students in terms of facilities and allowances.

"I hope someday ‘yung utang ng Maynila sa inyo ay mabayaran na sa mga mag-aaral. Para sa inyong kaalaman, malaki ang utang sa inyo ng Lungsod ng Maynila—we don't deny that. Makatikim man lang ng kaunting ginhawa sa mga pasilidad na kinakailangan ng ating paaralan.”

In addition, he also honored the late Mayor Antonio Villegas and Mayor Arsenio Lacson, stating that the institution was built upon their dreams and visions.

“I am up for the challenge—despite the fiscal problem of our city, we will be successful, we will pursue our aspirations, dreams and visions for you, if not, at the very least, sa susunod na henerasyon, katulad ng ginawa ni Mayor Villegas at ni Mayor Lacson,” he said.

As a closing message to the students, he encouraged PLMayers to study hard and described them to be the “cream of the crop.”

"...Don't take it lightly, not everyone [is] given a chance to be in this prestigious institution...Finish it with excellence," he reiterated, highlighting the nation building potential of the city.

The event concluded with a photo opportunity with the newly-elected College Deans as well as with the 2025 PLM Topnotchers from the Colleges of Engineering, Nursing and Education.

After the Kumustahan, the mayor attended a budget hearing at the 538th Regular Meeting of the Board of Regents also held at PLM.
