Globe Telecom held an exclusive campus focus group discussion (FGD) for selected Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) student councils and organizations at The Globe Tower, Bonifacio Global City (BGC) on Friday, Sept. 12.
Present in this event were representatives from the Supreme Student Council (SSC), College Student Councils (CSCs), and student-led groups such as the PLM Psychological Society, Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers - PLM Student Unit, PLM College Red Cross Youth Council, PLM - Junior Institute of Electrical Engineers (JIEE), Christian Brotherhood International - PLM Chapter, PLM Propaganda, Google Developers Students Club PLM, AWS Cloud Club Haribon, Junior Financial Executives PLM, Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants PLM, American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) PLM - Student Branch, and the PLM DOST Scholars’ Association.
The discussion revolved around pertinent internet connectivity issues inside the community, focusing on empowering student-centered ideas and technological insights towards making impactful solutions.
Globe also introduced the “Globe Student Program” where they can get firsthand volunteer and internship experiences, be a campus ambassador, and get micro-grants such as sponsorships and exclusive opportunities.
“We create programs for student orgs like you. Before namin siya gawin, we want insights if the project is feasible... We want to create campaigns that are meaningful [for you],” remarked Mr. Rendell Gaw, Globe TC’s Segment Marketing Manager.
In line with this, student organizations are open to propose their programs and events to Globe for free booking of their facilities. This is subject to availability given that their sustainability rules are met such as banning single-use plastics as well as remaining digital and paperless.
The session included a tour of the Globe Tower Office for the students, wherein they showcased some of their “state-of-the-art” facilities, including a mini museum, exclusive rooms for conferences and screenings, along with their support center.
