BAC students showcase own short films at FILMayer film festival

Senior Communication students presented ten short films on the screening day of the most coveted FILMayer: A PLM Festival of Movies at the Justo Albert Auditorium, June 7.

As part of the 4th year students’ Film and Writing Production course, the following short films were submitted as official entries to the film festival:

  • “Sa Pintuan ni Alison” by Dorothy Productions

  • “Para Po!” by Sangandaan Productions

  • “Overnight Stay” by Four Walls Motion Pictures

  • “D’Served” by Kusine Films

  • “Alamat ng Isdang Kulay Bahaghari” by Dalayday Productions

  • “Absolusyon” by AbanTake Productions

  • “Tara, G!” by ROUTE 5 Productions

  • “Balong, Balong… Balong?” by Inari Productions

  • “Evangeline” by Serafilm Productions

  • “Ang Nanay Kong Sapatero” by Pawid Productions

These short films were made possible with the help and guidance of their respective lecturers Mr. David Ramos Jr. and Ms. Ayen Bayani, who are both experienced in the field of writing and producing shows in a local television network, testified by their decade-long work.

Today, June 8, these films are set to be recognized with the FILMayer Awards Ceremony at the Justo Albert Auditorium. The FILMayer Committee revealed the set of judges, all known in the industry namely directors Mr. Adolfo Alix Jr. and Mr. Zig Dulay; cinematographer Mr. Carlo Mendoza; and veteran actress Ms. Amy Austria. The panel of judges will determine the most deserving films to be recognized with the 22 production and performance awards in this year’s FILMayer.

Mass Communication Students’ League President and FILMayer Chairperson Ms. Kamila Ysabel Cotoner expressed her gratitude to the distinguished guests and audience who took their time and supported the screening day of the film festival. 

Afterwards, University President Atty. Domingo Reyes Jr. graced the auditorium with his presence and addressed the students with a message.

“I’m truly amazed and you never fail to amuse me with the shared talents that PLM have… I’ve never seen so much talent being manifested in a single film festival [which] are all student productions,” Pres. Reyes stated.

Moreover, the President also shared that with the upcoming 60th founding anniversary of PLM, he hopes to have a university-wide film festival as one of the activities.

The FILMayer: A PLM Festival of Movies 2024 Screening was exclusive for the faculty, students, and staff of PLM, as well as for the invited guests by the production houses.
