Every Christmas, reunions take center stage—OFWs returning home, families reconnecting, and once-empty tables becoming full again. These moments remind us that togetherness is not just tradition, but something deeply earned after long periods of absence and sacrifice.

Yet not every reunion belongs to this season. For some, accountability must come before homecoming, especially when their actions left thousands of families permanently incomplete.

The ongoing International Criminal Court (ICC) process, from the execution of an ICC arrest warrant to the sustained denial of interim release for former President Rodrigo Duterte, shows that justice continues to move forward, reaffirming that no one is above the law and that holding perpetrators accountable can bring victims a long-awaited sense of closure.

Justice doesn’t take holidays. Accountability is the real gift Filipinos deserve.
