A Trick For My Wits and A Treat For My Worries
Written by Eryn Valerio • Board by Melliza Roxas | 1 November 26
Curse you, trick-or-treater!
These plots of yours have gone too brave
Don’t you know that revenge will taste better
After mindlessly digging up your own little grave?
Who thinks “Do Not Disturb” is a useless sign
That still shadows my scorn for this “holiday”?
Well, since you have already crossed the line
It’s my turn to be wicked in my own way
Oh, the things I have in store for you…
Can only be called a skele-ton!
Your heart will beat faster from a simple “boo”
And tremble in fear while you run, run, run
Perhaps I should put on a spooky disguise
A cat or a bat or the evil witch
Then show up at your doorstep to your surprise
With three knocks down and a ding-dong ditch
Menacing, I’d be, more frightening than a ghoul
You'll screech in fear while I cackle with thrill
No longer will they take me for the gullible fool
Who’s haunted by pranks and prone to chills
Just you wait for more tricks up my sleeve
For proving you’ve got such bones to pick
Daylight will wake slower, best believe—!
Once you discover the true lunatic
Dracula and Frankenstein can never compete
Since a trick for my wits is an act never seen
It pays off as a treat for my worries, bittersweet
To reap what you’d sown, on the next Halloween
